I’m Tiffini Truth, a former model turned multidisciplinary artist. My journey has taken me from LA to Mexico, Montreal, Toronto, and beyond. After years in fashion, performance, and metal art, I discovered that the most powerful canvas we all have is our home. This post, "Feng Shui for Beginners: Creating an Entryway That Reflects Your Style," will use my personal home as an example of best practices.

Through feng shui and interior décor, I’ve learned that how you feel in your space is ten times more important than how you look in the world. The entryway of our homes is vital for achieving a good flow throughout, regardless of size. Our homes can either heal us or haunt us. Aligning energy with aesthetics is where transformation begins.

The Journey of Feng Shui

This is the start of my journey as a feng shui interior home stylist. I want to share some insights I've learned thus far that blend artistry with wellness.

Three Common Questions About Entryway Space Optimization

1. How Do I Find My Personal Style in My Space?

I used to get asked this question all the time as a stylist, and it remains a main pain point in home decor. Start with one piece you love and must have. This could be a chair, a textile, or a piece of artwork. From there, build around that one piece until you create a bigger picture in your roomscape. Your style emerges from what feels authentic, never what's trending.

2. Can Feng Shui Really Affect My Mood at Home?

Absolutely! The placement of furniture, flow of light, and even clutter can directly influence your emotional state. The art of feng shui has immediate effects on the mind and spirit. Simple shifts, like opening space around your bed or clearing pathways, can create calm.

I recently applied the basic principles of feng shui to my living room. My bagua number is 8, which centers my living space in the northeast quadrant of my home. After placing things in the right direction and balancing that with my personal style, the flow of my space feels clear and rejuvenated. There were many pieces in my home that were blocking my Chi and all the positive energy around me. The takeaway? Things might look nice, but they ultimately don't always serve us.

3. What Are Feng Shui Entryway & Home Décor Tips?

The entryway in feng shui is known as the mouth of the home. This is where energy (chi) enters. Your home reflects your energy, and the energy that comes through that door is crucial. Take this area seriously. A clear, welcoming entrance sets the tone for how life flows inside and out.

If you're starting from scratch, your first step is to clear this space. Organize it to serve you optimally when you're coming and going.

Living by Feng Shui

I don’t just practice feng shui; I live by it. Meditation is as vital as brushing my teeth twice a day (or more if needed). Therapy is my holy ghost, and fitness is my form of couture, more valuable than any Birkin on the market.
