If you’ve ever wondered how to invite more abundance and good fortune into your life, you’re in the right place. As a Toronto based Feng Shui interior designer I've spent years exploring the art of Feng Shui from after living between Canada, Los Angeles and Mexico. It’s not just about aesthticss or astrogoly. It’s a practical, ancient system that can genuinely transform your home or workspace into a sanctuary that supports your goals and dreams for the future you today. I’m sharing some of my favourite Feng Shui techniques for wealth and prosperity that you can start using right away.

Understanding Wealth and Feng Shui: The Basics

Before diving into the nitty-gritty, let’s get clear on what Feng Shui really means for wealth. Feng Shui, which translates to “wind and water,” is all about balancing the energy (or chi) in your environment. When your space flows well, it supports your well-being, including your financial health.

The key to wealth in Feng Shui isn’t just about money piling up magically. It’s about creating an environment that encourages opportunities, creativity, and confidence to flourish. Think of it as setting the stage for your success.

Here are some foundational ideas to keep in mind:

  • Clutter blocks energy: If your space is messy, your energy is stuck. Clearing clutter is the first step to inviting prosperity.

  • The wealth corner matters: This is a specific area in your home or office that holds the potential to boost your financial luck. I've turned my kitchen island into a wealth area for my studio apartment. It can be any area you designate to bring in good fortune not just corners of your home.

  • Elements and colours: Certain elements and colours can stimulate wealth energy, like wood and green tones.

By focusing on these basics, you’re already on your way to a more prosperous environment.

How Wealth and Feng Shui Work Together in Your Space

Now, let’s talk about how to practically apply wealth and Feng Shui principles in your home or office. It’s not about rearranging your furniture every day or buying expensive crystals (though those can help if you like, I have!). It’s about thoughtful, intentional changes that make your space work for you.

1. Clear the Path for Energy Flow

Imagine your energy as a river flowing through your home. If there are obstacles, like piles of shoes/bags/jackets or blocked doorways, the flow slows down or totally stops. This can translate to missed opportunities or financial stagnation. Not to mention, visual noise.

  • Keep entryways clean and inviting. This is not a place to collect items, It's a place for optimal flow in/out of your space.

  • Avoid placing large furniture that blocks natural pathways.

  • Open curtains in the daytime to let in natural light during the day as much as possible, which energizes the space.

2. Use the Right Colours and Elements

In Feng Shui, the wood element symbolizes growth and vitality, which is perfect for wealth. Incorporate wood furniture, plants, or green colours to stimulate this energy.

  • Add a healthy money plant or bamboo in your wealth sector of your home. I always have lucky bamboo somewhere near my dining room/kitchen area. Living in a small space means your corners will be smaller but you can easily use small trinkets in these spaces to signal wealth.

  • Use green or purple accents in your décor, as purple is traditionally linked to wealth and creativity. Prince loved purple for good reason!

  • Avoid the excessive use of metal in your wealth area, as it can cut the wood energy.

3. How to Activate the Wealth Corner

The wealth corner is typically the far left corner from the entrance of a room or home. This spot deserves special attention because it’s believed to be the hotspot for financial energy.

  • Place symbols of abundance here, like a small fountain, a bowl of coins, or a crystal. This is where I reccomend small statues/crystal elements as cures in condos/apartments.

  • Keep this area clean and well-lit. A windowsill on the far south corner of your home is a perfect space to signal wealth in your home.

  • Avoid clutter or broken items in this corner at all costs.

By combining these practical steps, you’re creating a space that naturally supports your financial goals.

How do you activate your wealth corner?

Activating your wealth corner is like giving your prosperity a little nudge. It’s not complicated, but it does require some intention and care. Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to get you started:

  1. Locate your wealth corner: Stand at your front door and look to the far left corner of your home or room. That’s your wealth corner.

  2. Clean and declutter: Remove anything that doesn’t belong or is broken. This is your sacred space for abundance.

  3. Add water elements: Water symbolizes wealth in Feng Shui. A small fountain, aquarium, or even a picture of water can help.

  4. Bring in plants: Healthy, vibrant plants represent growth and vitality. Avoid thorny or dying plants.

  5. Use symbols of prosperity: Coins, crystals like citrine or pyrite, or a wealth bowl filled with meaningful items can boost energy.

  6. Light it up: Good lighting energizes the space. Use a lamp or natural light to keep this corner bright.

  7. Keep it active: Don’t let this area become stagnant. Refresh plants, clean regularly, and change items if needed.

Remember, activating your wealth corner is about creating a positive, inviting energy that encourages abundance to flow your way. It’s like giving your prosperity a little pep talk every day.

Practical Feng Shui Tips for Everyday Prosperity

Let’s get real. You want Feng Shui tips that fit into your busy life and don’t require a PhD in ancient Chinese philosophy. Here are some easy, practical ways to keep your space wealth-friendly:

  • Keep your desk organized: Your workspace is where ideas and income often start. A tidy desk invites clarity and focus.

  • Use mirrors wisely: Mirrors can double energy, but avoid placing them directly opposite the front door, or they might bounce your wealth right out.

  • Display abundance symbols: A bowl of fresh fruit, a jar of coins, or artwork depicting prosperity can subtly influence your mindset.

  • Fix leaks and broken items: Leaky faucets or broken things symbolize money slipping away. Fix them promptly.

  • Incorporate scents: Aromas like cinnamon, basil, or peppermint can stimulate energy and focus.

These small changes add up and create a supportive environment for your financial and personal growth.

Creating a Sanctuary That Supports Your Life’s Journey

At the heart of Feng Shui is the idea that your space should nurture you - not just look good. When you apply these techniques, you’re not just chasing money; you’re inviting a balanced, peaceful energy that supports your entire life journey.

Think of your home or office as a living, breathing sanctuary. When it’s aligned with your intentions, it helps you feel calm, confident, and ready to take on whatever comes next. And hey, who doesn’t want a little extra prosperity with that?
